The Gospel

We love to share the gospel with people – in fact, it’s our primary mission as a Church. The gospel is the good news about Jesus Christ and how you can be saved. If you want the gospel quickly then here it is:

God made you, sin separated you, Jesus rescued you, and you are invited to respond in faith and receive new life.

But the gospel is the most important information you will ever hear so please take the time to read more about what the bible says about God, sin, hell, Jesus and how you can be saved.

1. God made you — and He made you for relationship

God is not an idea or a force. He is personal. He created the world, and He created you, on purpose.

You are not an accident. Your life matters.

“God created mankind in his own image.”
(Genesis 1:27)

“The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”
(Psalm 145:9)

God’s intention was that people would know Him, trust Him, and live in His love.

2. Something has gone wrong with humanity (this is what the Bible calls sin)

Although God made us for relationship with Him, every human being has chosen independence instead of trust — doing life our own way.

The Bible calls this sin.
Sin is not just “bad behaviour”; it is living without God at the centre.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
(Romans 3:23)

Sin damages:

  • our relationship with God
  • our relationships with others
  • and eventually ourselves

It creates a separation between us and God.

“Your iniquities have separated you from your God.”
(Isaiah 59:2)

3. Sin leads to death — but not just physical death

The Bible says sin brings consequences. The deepest one is spiritual death — separation from God, who is the source of life.

“The wages of sin is death.”
(Romans 6:23a)

This is why the world feels broken, why guilt exists, and why people sense something is missing.

We cannot fix this separation by being “good enough”, religious, or moral.

4. God loves you too much to leave you like this

Here is the heart of the gospel.

God did not wait for us to fix ourselves.
He came to us.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
(Romans 5:8)

God became human in the person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus lived the life we could not live — perfectly loving God and others — and then did something extraordinary.

5. Jesus took your place

Jesus willingly died on a cross, even though He had done nothing wrong.

The Bible says He was taking our sin, our guilt, and our judgement upon Himself.

“He was pierced for our transgressions… the punishment that brought us peace was on him.”
(Isaiah 53:5)

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us.”
(2 Corinthians 5:21)

On the cross, Jesus took what we deserved — so we could receive what we don’t deserve: forgiveness and life.

6. Jesus rose from the dead — proving it all worked

Jesus did not stay dead.

Three days later, He rose again.

This shows:

  • sin was paid for
  • death was defeated
  • Jesus truly is who He claimed to be

“He is not here; he has risen!”
(Luke 24:6)

Because Jesus lives, new life is possible now, not just after death.

7. Salvation is a gift — not something you earn

You cannot earn forgiveness.
You cannot deserve it.
You receive it.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
(Ephesians 2:8–9)

Salvation means:

  • your sins are forgiven
  • your relationship with God is restored
  • you are given new spiritual life
  • you belong to God

8. How do you respond? Repent and believe

The Bible describes a simple but serious response.

Repent

This means turning — changing direction — from living life without God, and choosing to trust Him instead.

Believe

This means trusting that Jesus’ death and resurrection are for you.

“Repent and believe the good news!”
(Mark 1:15)

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
(Romans 10:9)

9. You can respond right now

You do not need to wait.
You do not need special words.
God hears a sincere heart.

You could pray something like this (the words don’t save you — the trust does):

“God, I know I have lived life without you.
I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again.
I turn to you now.
Please forgive me, give me new life, and help me follow Jesus.
Amen.”

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
(Romans 10:13)

10. What happens next?

When someone trusts Christ:

  • God forgives them completely
  • They receive the Holy Spirit
  • They begin a new life of learning to follow Jesus

“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come.”
(2 Corinthians 5:17)

The Christian life is not about perfection — it is about relationship, growth, and grace.
